A.J. Rath first came to Wharton in 1965 to work on a project for the Wharton County Junior College. He moved him family here when the job became a three year project. By the time the project was over, he had come to enjoy the community, and several of his neighbors convinced him to stay and open his own business. On January 27th, 1968, Rath Plumbing Company was born. There have been a lot of changes in the years since A.J. started with a single beat up tool box. Back then, he worked mostly with cast iron. Now, the piping is mostly PVC. Through the years, he’s found it makes good sense never to throw anything away, as someone usually finds a need for every particular item. He’s built up a massive inventory of products to fit both the old and the new. If it’s a plumbing item, and you’re looking for it, chances are, you’ll find it at Rath Plumbing Company, parts and supply. |
Nowadays, A.J. has three additional licensed plumbers working with him, his son Mark, Cliff Henson and Lee Treybig, and one apprentice licensed plumber, Brian Van Horn. Their combined work experience, at Rath Plumbing company alone, add up to over 120 years. AJ, Mark, Lee & Cliff are required to attend 8 hours of Continuing Education yearly to keep their Plumber Licenses current. They are also licensed by Railroad Commission of Texas Gas Services Division as "General Installers and Repairmen". If your plumbing job needs expert work, you’ll find it here. If you want to do it yourself, you’ll find excellent advice from the experts.
AJ serves on the Planning Commission of the City of Wharton, and is currently the Chairman of that organization.
Rath Plumbing Company is open Monday through Friday from 8am until 5 pm. They are closed on Saturday and Sunday.
